Lilyland

By Jazmyne Rosado

-

It felt so warm. The air was thick and sweet. It was hugging me, kissing my skin. Their tiny lights were blurred in the fog, twinkling on and off, here and there. Coming closer and then far away again. I felt myself sinking to my feet. Sweeping to the ground slowly like a leaf. No fear rang through me. Rather the comfort of my mother’s arms. The tiny little creatures came to comfort me. They held my cheeks in their tiny hands.

Somewhere else:

“She was found in an alleyway. Unfortunately, the rats had gotten to her before her body could be found. She was likely alive when the rats found her, only unresponsive.”
